Charlie Chaplin final speech in The Great Dictator

This dispatch is not just for entertainment.  I remember to have seen umpteen number of Chaplin's movie s which are all silent.  Exception: the following.  This is a remarkable piece of his works to be preserved as a document.

The genius of Chaplin. Back in the 40's, critics thought his message came straight from a pipe dream.
Today, we can say that these critics were living in a pipe dream of their own.
His message is clear and its something we all want. Let's not forget to "fight" for it.

He did not blink his eyes during speech and siad
"I'm sorry, but I don't want to be an Emperor - that's not my business.
I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone,
 if possible -- Jew, gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another;
human beings are like that. We want to live by each other's happiness, ......."

His speech made me awake of what is going on right now. This man is unbelievable.

It's amazing how strong this speech is. It's been decades, and it is as strong as ever.

I find it scary and ironic, that this was made so many years ago but applies today more than ever.

National barriers cannot facilitate governance, they only interrupt the natural flow of life, of which people are inescapably a part of.

They facilitate capitalist interests and you're right, the EU, the African Union, the emerging Pacific Union and the coming American Union- are examples of how the few elite ARE
taking over the world. Barriers in any form, make possible the hoarding of resources, and as a byproduct, determine who is "free", and who is not.

borders of nations that we created are not natural. This is a human act onto things to separate us from the rest.
There is always a misconception about politicians and governments. They are not your leaders they are your servants, they are there to manage our affairs.

How I wish everyone would be born blind in this world. So that we won't be able to see our differences. We won't be mesmerized by sparkling things.
And we would live with the help of one another in a world of darkness where there is hope.
Human beings are born perfect. The only thing that make us imperfect are these judgmental eyes that we have.

for ever this speech will be simple and clear .. .. He choosed to speak after 10 years, in 1940, but today we have to choose

Very moving... from someone that live life in the movies, using laughter to bring joy to everyone.

give anyone else chills ? Something about the reckless passion of his appeal went far under the skin, what a timeless performance.

still applicable and just as beautiful today- amazing

Modular housing concept boasts 64 possible combinations

Italian Designer Gabriel Aramu has conceptualized a modular housing system that seems to offer endless possibilities. Dubbed "Sliding Hub," these prefabricated cubes join together to create a temporary housing solution for multiple situations. In the event that emergency shelters are required, the modules can be packed and transported to any destination. On arrival, the modules are easily joined together, with the flexibility to house individuals, small groups or large numbers without limitation. Each module incorporates an insulation system suitable for all kinds of weather conditions. In addition, the temporary accommodation units provide a comfortable standard of living, important to natural disaster victims. Constructed with steel reinforcements, numerous modules can be assembled together to create various sizes and shapes, whilst sliding them open creates large internal spaces. According to Aramu, the system can be configured 64 different ways, wh...

Stick ‘Em Up! Clever Concept Adds Number Pads to Laptops

On a lot of laptops, the numeric keypad is usually the first thing to be sacrificed in order to save space. For those of us who just can’t get used to using the numbers above the alpha keys, this concept is a stroke of genius. It’s called Number Pad Film for Touchpad – despite the cumbersome name, it’s a really clever object + program that makes it simple for even laptop users to enter long lines of numeric data. The Number Pad Film is a small piece of plastic film that fits on over a laptop’s touch pad. Accompanying software maps out locations of the virtual “keys” on the touchpad. Switch to the number input with the use of hotkeys and math away to your heart’s content. Another activation of the hotkeys sends the touchpad back to its original function. The virtual keypad lacks the tactile feedback of a physical numeric keypad, but people who do plenty of touch typing on numeric keypads might not mind. They’ll probably just be grateful to have the freedom to ...
